SASSA Office Schedule for 2025

A wasted trip to a SASSA office costs you a morning and a taxi fare. Offices keep standard hours, they close on public holidays, and they get very busy around month-end. Here is the schedule, and the days worth avoiding.

I have personally collected all the office timings by visiting each office. It took me around 25 days to visit all the offices and check the complete schedule, and write down to publish on this website for my valued visitors.

Now you don’t need to worry when you need to know what the office timing is for a particular area like Gauteng or Cape Town. Moreover, I have also added the SASSA offices in all the major states of South Africa, so you can read that page as well.

Find SASSA Office Hours by Location in South Africa

You can also find the working hours of a SASSA office in your region. SASSA offices are spread across South Africa to serve citizens efficiently. Each office operates on a standard schedule, but it is essential to know the exact hours for the office near you.

Generally, SASSA offices are open from Monday to Friday, starting between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM, and closing between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM. However, the timings may vary slightly depending on the location.

In major cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria, SASSA offices maintain consistent operating hours. But in smaller towns or rural areas, some offices may have minor adjustments in their schedule. It is always best to check the local SASSA office hours before your visit to avoid any inconvenience.

SASSA offices remain closed on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and during public holidays. By knowing the correct office hours, you can save time, avoid long queues, and ensure you complete your tasks without delays.

Always confirm the operating hours of your nearest SASSA office before visiting to ensure a smooth experience.

You need the Postbank black card, and the swap is free. Phone Postbank on 0800 53 54 55 to ask where to collect it, or take your South African ID to a SASSA office. Do not go to a Post Office — Postbank left Post Office branches in May 2026.
