SASSA Grants Payment Dates
There are two different answers here, and mixing them up is why people get confused. The permanent grants have a payment calendar published a year in advance. The SRD R370 grant does not, and never has.
So if you receive an Older Persons, Disability or Child Support grant, you can look your date up below right now. If you are on SRD, the date is announced month by month, a few days before it lands.
SRD R370 Payment Dates
SASSA does not publish an SRD calendar. Each month’s dates are announced on SASSA and DSD social media a few days beforehand, usually in the last week of the month. Anyone showing you SRD dates for months that have not been announced yet has made them up.
The exact date is different for each person, and the only place it shows is your own status page at srd.sassa.gov.za (opens in a new tab).
Two things about SRD are worth knowing. It pays in arrears, so the money you get in one month covers the previous month. And the window is short, roughly two days, not the full last week of the month that many sites describe.
SASSA Payment Dates for Permanent Grants
National Treasury approved this calendar for the full financial year, April 2026 to March 2027. These dates are confirmed, not projections.
| Month | Older Persons | Disability | Children’s Grants |
| April 2026 | 2 | 7 | 8 |
| May 2026 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
| June 2026 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| July 2026 | 2 | 3 | 6 |
| August 2026 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
| September 2026 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| October 2026 | 2 | 5 | 6 |
| November 2026 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| December 2026 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| January 2027 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
| February 2027 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| March 2027 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
The Fourth Payment Day Most Sites Miss
After the children’s grant date each month, SASSA runs a fourth payment day. It is for beneficiaries who were flagged for a grant review or for life certification and have since sorted it out. If your money did not come on your normal day and you were under review, this is the day to watch.
Which Grant Is Paid on Which Day
The order is the same every month. Older Persons first, Disability the next working day, then all the children’s grants.
Older Persons Grant – First Day
For South African citizens aged 60 and above who need help with daily living costs. This grant is always paid first, on purpose, to keep older people out of the longest queues.
Disability Grant – Second Day
For people who are permanently or temporarily disabled and unable to work. It is paid the day after the Older Persons Grant.
Children’s Grants – Third Day
The Child Support Grant, Care Dependency Grant and Foster Child Grant all land on the same day, the third in the cycle. Grant-in-Aid is paid with the grant it is attached to. The War Veterans Grant is a grant on its own and is paid on the first day, with the Older Persons Grant.
Your money does not disappear if you do not collect it on the day. It stays in the account, so there is no reason to queue at 5am.
What is a SASSA Grant Payment Date?
A SASSA grant payment date is the specific day each month when grant beneficiaries receive their payments. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) manages this process to ensure millions of people get their money on time. SASSA pays out eight types of grants: Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, Child Support Grant, Foster Child Grant, Care Dependency Grant, War Veterans Grant, Grant-in-Aid, and Social Relief of Distress.
Each grant has a set payment date every month. This helps SASSA organize and distribute funds in a smooth and safe way. Older persons and disability grants are paid first to avoid long queues. The children’s grants follow on the next working day. SASSA publishes the schedule for the permanent grants a year ahead. SRD is different: there is no SRD calendar, and each month’s dates are only announced a few days before payment.
The money reaches people through bank accounts, ATMs, and retailers like Shoprite, Checkers, USave, Boxer, Pick n Pay and Spar. Post Offices no longer pay out grants. SASSA and Postbank phased out cash paypoints and in-branch withdrawals in March 2024, and Postbank left Post Office branches entirely in May 2026.
This structured method prevents crowding and delays. It also helps SASSA manage the high volume of payments across the country. With the help of this payment date system, SASSA ensures that all grant holders get the support they need every month, with minimal issues or confusion.
Why is SASSA Status Approved, But the Payment Date is Missing or Pending?
If your SASSA status shows “Approved” but the payment date is missing or pending, it means your application has been accepted, but the payment is still being processed. This situation is common and can happen for several reasons.
SASSA follows a two-step process: first, it approves your grant application after verifying your eligibility; second, it schedules a payment date for the approved application. Approval does not guarantee immediate payment, you still need a confirmed payment date to receive funds.
Here are possible reasons for the delay:
- Bank Verification Pending: SASSA must verify your bank account details to ensure the payment goes to the correct person. If your banking information is incomplete or incorrect, payment will be delayed.
- System Overload: High volumes of approved applications can slow down the payment scheduling process.
- Monthly Payment Cycle: SASSA processes payments in cycles. If your approval came late in the cycle, your payment date may be set for the next month.
- Change in Payment Method: If you recently updated your banking or contact details, it may take extra time for SASSA to validate the changes.
F.A.Q
Can I collect my SASSA payment without a bank account?

You should contact SASSA immediately or visit your nearest office with proof of your bank details to resolve the issue.
Is it possible to change my SASSA payment method after approval?
Yes, you can update your payment method online, but it will delay your next payment.
Do SASSA grants expire if not collected on the exact date?
No, uncollected grants remain available for a limited period, but it’s best to collect them as soon as possible to avoid account issues.
